September 21, 2015
Thanks to everyone who attended our joint meeting with the ASSE Heart of America Chapter. Please see the minutes below:
Bonita Winingham, Deputy Regional Administrator, OSHA Region VII provided an update on OSHA activities nationally and in our region.
Current local emphasis programs include Stuck By, Kansas Weather, and High Hazards
There is a Temporary Work Initiative in place. In all inspections, OSHA inspectors will ask about the presence of temporary workers, the hazards to which they are exposed, and the training they have received.
OSHA is currently looking at updates to the lead in construction and beryllium standards. Comments are due by November 2, 2015 for lead in construction and by November 5, 2015 for beryllium.
Ms. Winingham reminded all attendees to focus on implementation of programs to protect workers rather than just having written programs in place.
