Mindy Yancey, Director of Claims at Midwest Builders Casualty, provided information on Avoiding Pitfalls Between Safety Practices and Workers’ Compensation. Specifically, Mindy reiterated the need for companies to identify a designated person for employees to report injuries to, the importance of directing medical care for injured employees, the importance of specific light duty/return to work, drug and alcohol, violation and disciplinary, and other safety policies, and the need for documenting education and training of employees on these policies.
Introductions made – Tom Ruzicka, incoming CSG President; Sharon Mount, incoming CSG Vice President; Steve Ratliff – volunteered, nominated and elected as incoming CSG Recording Secretary. Thanks to Dave Ezell for his past 3 years of service as Recording Secretary, Vice President, and outgoing President.
A financial report was provided reflecting balances in the operating, scholarship and savings accounts.
Interviews for the CSG Scholarship at Pittsburg State will take place on April 20, 2015. We are awaiting a firm date for scholarship interviews at the University of Central Missouri.
Dave Stein provided a tour of the Concentra facility on Southwest Boulevard immediately following the meeting for those interested.
Our December meeting will be the annual Christmas party on December 4, 2015 at Cascone’s on North Oak Trafficway. Details to follow in a separate invitation.
